“If I Had a Magic Wand… My Wish…”

“… is for everyone to create a strong, sustainable movement to educate every child about food, inspire families to cook again and empower people everywhere to fight obesity” (Oliver, 2010)

Obesity is a growing health problem all over the world, but especially in the United States.  It is truly an epidemic in this day and age.  The amount of people that are considered obese is closing in at around just over 40% and in children, that statistic is reaching about 60%!!    This is a staggering number and the good news is we can do something about it!

This video is about 20 minutes long; I know, who has 20 extra minutes… but I promise once you start watching you won’t want to stop.   Jamie Oliver is an amazing speaker and by the end it will either have you in tears or giving a standing ovation to your computer!  Please watch!

I found this video on Dr. Mercola’s website at the top of an article about getting kids in shape and teaching them about food.  The second week in February Michelle Obama launched “Let’s Move”; a campaign to remedy the childhood obesity epidemic that we are currently dealing with.  Personally I think this is an amazing campaign and it’s what the nation has needed for some time now.  To quote Jamie “if change can be made in this country, beautiful things will happen around the world.  If America does it, I believe people will follow” (Oliver, 2010).  We need to get back to what’s important; our families & our health should be put back on the top of the priority list,  and there’s no better time to start than right now!

~be well & eat well.. till next time~

I have been very very active in sports and athletics since I can remember. I received my BS in Integrative Physiology at the University of Colorado @ Boulder. In my practice I utilize all modalities to help get you where you want to be, whether with Acupuncture or Kettlebell training. I am well versed in treating Sports specific conditions; pain, injuries, strains & sprains and use my knowledge of the body both from a Chinese Medical standpoint and a traditional Western one; a concept that most of my patients are familiar with. In addition, I incorporate my knowledge of the physical body & how we move, where restrictions pain or tightness may reside and how that in turn affects the internal organs. For each individual that walks through my door, I am able to assess what each person needs as far as therapy to achieve their goals. Each person is different, inside and out and treatments should reflect that. Among my modalities, I use Acupuncture, Chinese Herbs, Tuina (a type of Chinese bodywork), Japanese style Acupuncture, Moxibustion, Nutrition, and Lifestyle coaching as well as my Kettlebell training for rehab and for improving one's fitness level.
